PROVIDING TECHNICAL AND PROFESSIONAL SKILLS IN AGRICULTURE

WHY WE EXIST

Agricultural Technical Institute was established to address the skills gap among young agriculturist, address unemployment, food insecurity and poverty. We realized that most young people trained in agriculture ends up not practicing agriculture at all, due to the lack of critical hands-on skills and opportunities available for youth. Also most traditional farmers are lacking the skills set needed to transform their subsistence farming into a more sustainable farming business. The knowledge of climate smart agriculture has been lacking as well as the agroecology. Lack of entrepreneurial opportunities for youth and knowledge of opportunities in the value chain is driving the youth out of agriculture which has serious consequences on our food security in Ghana and Africa.

WHO WE ARE

Agricultural Technical Institute (AGRITECH-GH) is a non-profit institution providing professional technical training, extension and advisory services to youth, women, prospective and practicing farmers in environmentally friendly agriculture, agribusiness, agricultural engineering, climate smart agriculture, agroecology to improve the skills and practices of youth and farmers and increase agricultural productivity, food security and incomes to contribute to sustainable development in Ghana and Africa.

WHAT WE DO

AGRITECH provides the following services to contribute to food security and sustainable development in Africa.

1. Professional skills training for youth
2. Extension services to local farmers to improve practices and enhance food security and incomes
3. Research and Policy advocacy to contribute to national policy discourse through evidence based advocacy and stakeholder engagements
4. Agribusiness incubation to support youth to develop their innovative ideas into sustainable agribusinesses
5. Consultancy services to corporate institutions, government agencies, development partners and private sector companies who require expert services in research, training and advisory support.
